Focus Market Platform Update
Those who have been with us since the beginning are probably aware of the recurring challenges and delays that we've been experiencing while trying to launch the Focus Market platform. At this point, you are probably fed up with us and we don't blame you.
But we finally have some great news!
Our technical team has recently started the testing phase which means that it's only a matter of time before we make the beta version available to our community. At first, some of the features will be limited but the platform will evolve over time and become more advanced.
Great times are ahead of us and we'll make sure to keep you posted.
Establishing Yourself as a Photographer in Web3/NFT Space
When we look at the NFT ecosystem as a whole, photography is still a niche category. As of right now, the earnings are very much concentrated at the top. Ten highest-grossing photographers accounted for 39% of primary proceeds, while the top 100 captured 77% of sales. It means that only the most established photographers are reaping the benefits.
Sloika - a curated NFT photography marketplace and community - conducted a survey asking photographers about the most difficult thing in web3. The answers revealed different challenges such as the difficulty to stand out, communicating the value of their work, creating relationships with the collectors, and being discoverable in the ecosystem.
Our team has been paying close attention to the NFT photography space and we see a massive need for solutions that would allow photographers to monetize their work, grow, and get recognized.
We believe that one of the ways creators can succeed is through storytelling. It is one of the most valuable skills which can truly be monumental if you dedicate time to work on it. In fact, we are planning to write an article about how to establish yourself as a creator in web3.
Let us know by replying to this email if that's something you would be interested in!
Focus Market Blog
We have already hinted at this in the above section. Our team is happy to announce that we are starting a new blog where we will deliver NFT photography news, deep dives, artist interviews, and much more.
The goal is to present you with the latest knowledge-packed information that you could apply to your own practice. It's our mission to make sure you get the best value out there!
Featured NFT Photography
In every newsletter, we'll be highlighting different creators from our community. This week we are starting off with three amazing photographers. Their work is also featured on our website.
LIGHT IN THE DARKNESS
Namrata Vedi
"As a photographer, I enjoy capturing moments that symbolise our daily lives. For me, this was one of those memories that I wanted to have forever because it offers me a sense of hope, brightness, and faith even in the darkest of times. And I want people who see this image to feel the same way."
MORNING BEAN
3scapePhotos
I woke up at 4am to come out and shoot an epic sunrise in downtown Chicago, as was forecast. Unfortunately, forecasts in Chicago don't mean a whole lot in the spring, and I there was no sun to be found. However, since it rained quite a bit the night before there were puddles all around that I could take advantage of some fun compositions. I also had Cloud Gate (aka The Bean) all to myself which is always wonderful. I love Spring in the city!
SPECTRUM
Gabriella Morton
Have you realised the human eye is more sensitive to shades of green than any other colour? This piece explores its relevance to our evolution, particularly during the forager days. Perhaps green's diverse spectrum isn't only to help distinguish different plant specimens, but more effectively to increase contrast when identifying ripe fruit or poisonous mushrooms.
Thank you for reading! We are super excited to have you on this journey with us.
From now on you will be hearing a lot more from us. We hope this first newsletter was valuable to you.
